ART OF STAINED GLASS
SAFETY
Lead
Lead is hazardous when ingested. Do not eat while you are working with lead. Do not handle food until after you've cleaned your hands
properly. You do not need gloves. To be overly cautious, do not work with lead if you are pregnant.
Flux
Do not breathe flux fumes as you solder; be sure to work in a well-ventilated area. Flux can cause skin rashes in some people, it
is recommended that you solder with disposable gloves.
Glass Dust
Do not breathe glass dust from your grinder. Always use your grinder with water. Cumulative exposure to fine glass dust
may result in silicosis over time.
Glass Cuts
Have leather gloves handy for handling glass sheets. That's when people tend to cut themselves! Do have Band-Aids ready
just in case. If you've been taught well, there is no cause to cut yourself while scoring and breaking glass.
Addiction
Once you begin, you may not be able to stop. Light and color are addictive substances.
