Choosing glass for Prairie style windows
Frank Lloyd Wright, the most famous proponent of the movement, made little use of color, instead relying heavily on
judicious use of variously sized came in a combination of vertical, horizontal, and 30º and 150º lines - and later,
cirles in primary colors. The few colors were in the yellow/amber/brown range, and they were flat, with no internal
variation.
The lead lines are by far the most important aspect of the design, with the glass being overwhelmingly clear float glass.
Aside from the few colored bits, Prairie style is tantamount to very fancy muntin work, in lead. He used a lot of Kokomo glass,
and Kokomo continues to produce glass that is used in the restoration of his windows.
